Stilton, I think I look forward to Johnny even more than Hopenchange, which says a lot. I would bet that you were brought up on Mad magazine and National Lampoon like I was. Keep up the good and crazed work.

@Anonymous- Guilty as charged. I loved MAD (going way back to their earliest issues with Will Elder and Wally Wood among others) and transitioned smoothly into National Lampoon. And I've always been a fan of great cartoonists like Charles Rodrigues, Virgil Partch, Chas Addams and more recent talents like Gary Larson, Bill Watterson, and Michael Ramirez.

I'm glad that you enjoy Johnny and must confess that the character and the strip are very special to me. Thanks for the nice comment!

Virgil Partch. It's good to see that one of my favorite cartoonists from long ago is remembered.

One of my favorites by him was a very large man entering the house, filling nearly the entire door frame. A little Chihuahua with a wagging tail greets him, jumping up on his leg, but only coming to about the top of the cuff. The man, looking stern says, "Down, Fang."

Keep up the good work. The dark humor of Johnny Optimism brightens my day,

@Lee The Voice- Virgil Partch, or "VIP" as he signed his cartoons, is a favorite of mine. In part because my Dad, who was a gifted cartoonist, had a very similar drawing style and sense of humor.

@Stan da Man- If you really want to confuse someone under 25, refer to winding your wristwatch. They'll think it's time to put you in a nursing home.

Okay, well, I know who Gary Larsen and Bill Watterson are, anyway...definitely my two favorite comic writers...with Baby Blues being a close third. And Stilton Jarlsberg tied with all of them, of course. ;-)

Poor Johnny...I think I say that almost every other strip. haha.
