I just noticed something that makes me understand why this doctor is such a sick freak...he's a lefty. Watching them write something is like watching a monkey humping a football. It's just weird, man.

One of Hitchcock's most iconic scenes. Now I'll be looking over my shoulder all day..

@Angry Hoosier Dad- I've never seen the term "like watching a monkey hump a football" before, and yet I suspect it will now be a regular part of my vernacular.

@TrickyRicky- You'll be so busy looking for that dark figure in old lady clothing that you won't notice the crop duster where there ain't no crops until it's too late.

@Stilt,
Is there still a Northwest Airlines? And how do you get to the top of Mt. Rushmore?

Stilton Jarlsberg said...

@JustaJeepGuy- Northwest Airlines got bought up by Delta, but somehow "North by Delta" just lacks panache as a title. And as anyone can tell you, the way to get to the top of Mt. Rushmore is practice, practice, practice. No wait, that's how you get to Carnegie Hall.

@Dan Mathewson- If this cartoon had actual audio, I'd go for that gag in a heartbeat.

Dr. Jarlsberg, Et Alii:

I remember "a monkey humping a football" from my Basic Combat Training during the Winter of 1967 - 1968 in Company "D", 3d Battalion, 1st Brigade at Fort Lewis, Washington.

One of the drill sergeants in another platoon said that, and everybody busted out laughing.

Our own drill sergeant immediately told us to shut up, for we were only supposed to laugh at his jokes, and not at another drill sergeant's jokes.

Thank you.

@John Robert Mallernee- Thanks for the backstory! See, "Johnny Optimism" can actually be educational (mostly for me)!
