After the surgery on my neck, I was treated by a Speech Therapist.

It had nothing to do with speech.

I had to be taught how to swallow my food without strangling.

A Speech Therapist teaches people how to swallow food.

Bet you didn't know THAT, did you?

@Stan da Man- And flying the "Jolly Woger" just doesn't sound that threatening.

@Sergio- Waping, pillaging, and a nice bowl of chowdah.

@John Robert Mallernee- I did know that! Today's cartoon is a birthday shout out to my wonderful daughter, who is a speech therapist. So I'm quite familiar with the many important things they do - including helping people re-learn how to swallow after surgery or a stroke. It can be a difficult job, but such an important one. And I'm really glad that your speech therapist did a good job!

Several DECADES ago when I was touring campuses before going to university the student guide (a young lady) pointed out a particular building on campus and told the group: "That's where they steech peep therwapthy." Hilarious at the time.

Rod, "several decades ago" must be when the level of education began to decline, (or Patsy Cline for all I know). Here's a Clifs Notes on pluralizing words, radius/radii, syllabus/syllabi, campus/campii. Yes, like the editor of "Mein Kampf", I am a "spelling Nazi", and no, this is not serious.

@Rod- Sounds like she drinks the same "coffee" that I do...

@Bruce Bleu- Peter Falk could never pluralize those words because he only had one i.

@ Bruce Bleu: LOL! Thanks for that you are correct sir and I even took 2 years of HS Latin; that was also several decades ago. I'd have never passed had it not been for wearing a sheet(the damned toga) in the Latin Club plays.

Stilton, you never cease to amaze me with your "rapier twit". Peter Falk... THAT was really creative, and I'll bet it came to you on the fly!

Rod, the only Latin I had was listening to Santana.
