    My father received a balloon angioplasty from Dr. Andreas Gruentzig who pioneered this type of angioplasty, it helped extend my dad's life by 19 years, I will always be in Dr. Andreas Gruentzig's debt. R.I.P. sir

    Amazing, yes. However the technique is very expensive these days due to inflation.

    @Kent Whitehead- The cost can be mitigated if one chooses the basic procedure, eschewing such popular but expensive options such as the "ribbed for your pleasure" version.
