  1. We have a chap in a wheelchair down the street from me who takes his dog out for a walk now and again. I once enquired who was walking whom? He grinned and said "It's hard to tell, sometimes!"

  2. @M. Mitchell Marmel- That's a nice story! I sometimes feel the same way about walking my own dog.

  3. If told this story here before, it's far enough back to have forgotten: I used to cycle the greenbelt trail along Brays Bayou in Houston which goes near Hermann Park and the Medical Center. As my excuse: I had already ridden ~15 miles into the wind and was about to make the turnaround to go home. Came up behind a guy in one of those marathon-racing wheelchairs with the negative cambers wheels. He was rolling a pretty good clip already and I joked "Do you want the race that thing?" He replied "Yes" and took off like a shot. Before breaking off, I WANTED to tell him that was fun & he was good.... but I never could catch him.

  5. I'd be happy with a walk, base hit, or HR, or even a strikeout or two. No baseball is no good. Why can't they play to sparse crowds, like the Cleveland Indians did in my youth? The hot dog and beer vendors need hungry and thirsty fans for whom to work. I'm hopeful we'll get NCAA and NFL football in 2020.

  6. @Rod- I don't recall having heard that story before, and it's a good one! And speaking of wheelchair athletes, if you've never seen the documentary "Murderball," it's a good one.

    @TrickyRicky- Sweet!

    @Sergio- I'm not sure we can save baseball season, but there are still high hopes for masketball. (See what I did there?)

  7. @Stilton: In fact, this week's "Couch Kitties" takes a rueful look at the lack of Opening Day for the Phillies...
