johnny optimism, medical, humor, sick, jokes, boy, wheelchair, doctors, hospital, stilton jarlsberg, birthday, evel knievel, medical book, 69

That really is the age at which daredevil Evel Knievel passed away, but mostly this cartoon is just an excuse to wish a very Happy Birthday to Stilt's not-quite-70 brother!

  1. I can think of worse ways to go. Why does "Good Girls Don't" by The Knack come to mind?

  2. Well, at least he didn't jump to a conclusion.

  3. It sounds as if he took a turn for the worse.

  6. It seems Johnny is more worldly than I had thought. Makes me wonder what else he has discovered in that place he lives.

  7. And oh yeah--Happy Birthday @Stilt's brother!

  8. @Sergio- I'm not aware that any song before that had a lyric about a girl sitting on your face.

    @Anonymous- Uh, oh...now the puns will be ramping up.

    @TrickyRicky- Heh, heh...you said "bon."

    @DougM- Yeah, this one pushes the boundaries just a bit. But I wanted to get the joke in for my brother.

    @ringgo1- Hey, you're only as old as the sophomoric jokes you tell!

    @JustaJeepGuy- In hindsight, it should have been Tickles the clown instead of Johnny in that second panel. Let's all pretend this never happened.

    And thanks for the birthday wishes. I'll be sure to pass them along to my twin brother.

  9. @Stilt, it's only your twin brother getting older, right? BTW, did he inherit your father's sense of humor too?

  10. @JustaJeepGuy- Now that you mention it, I guess my brother isn't the only one getting older. Although annoyingly, he looks at least 10 years younger than I do. And yes, both of my brothers inherited my Dad's off-kilter sense of humor. We all got the nature-nurture double whammy (grin).
