  1. Better have at least 2 doctors then?

  2. Maybe get someone else to do the surgery if it's so dangerous for the doctors.

  3. Get the clown to do it. He's expendable. :)

  4. This is like a real life medical adventure I had...
When I had my stroke, I was on my laptop...I knew something was wrong, so I Googled "stroke symptoms" and there I was...the paramedics said their equipment didn't indicate a stroke...I said let's go, the twitching drooping eye, loss of sensation and inability to move my left side extremities was weird enough as is. I found out I had only 2 hours to get treatment before recovery was forgone. Three Docs wheeled in a tv, I was told by a grim lady that they only had one approved treatment, it had a 3% chance of death. Really? I had a thought...paralysis or death. Hmmm...could I take the treatment twice? LOL
They had a grim Doc in the group who testified he'd lost some patients...I was getting antsy, so I said LET'S GO!
I did recover a good deal of limited use of my left side, I can hobble 20 feet at a time and lift 8 pounds. Wow...no more Harley riding, now I ride 8 mph on a mobility scooter. No Doctors were lost during the procedure...

  5. Had a similar incident in '07, but it didn't have all the classic symptoms, so I decided to consult my GP and, sure enough, it was Bell's Palsy. I had MidSouthCon coming up, so I decided to write and perform a filk there to much approbation:

Oh, I was a happy fellow
Didn't have a care or fear
    Till a jolly little virus
Came to visit 'hind my ear

Now one eyebrow heads up northward
While the other one stays south
    I'm not really that unhappy
Just call me...down in the mouth....

    So-

I'm going out- with Bell's on
Don't go getting palsy-walsy with me, please
Though my mouth may kinda droop
    It don't mean that I'm a stoop
It's just a simple neurological disease

    Ohh-

I'm going out- with Bell's on
I guess it's sort of a peculiar case
    One eyelid on the blink
Makes it kinda tough to wink
And now I got a half a poker face

    ======

So I went to see the doctor
And he said „We‚ll fix that quick!
    Acyclo-this and Predni-that
    Will surely do the trick!‰

If the steroids helped me out at all
    I really cannot say
    But I‚ve been elected Governor
    Of Cal-i-forn-eye-ayyyyyyyy∑

    Yes-

I'm going out- with Bell's on
On my face I'm wearing half a secret smile
Though there's slurring of my speech
Still, my Popeye is a peach (Arf, arf arf arf)
And I should be back to normal in awhile
    (I really hope so)
I should be back to normal in awhile
    (And I'm not foolin')
Should be back to normal in awhile
    (You hear me droolin'!)
    Should-be-back-to-nor-mal-in-a-WHIIIIIILE!

  6. Sorry, Stilt
    Saw it comin'.
Me ol' dad told me that one as a kid.
    (Here's another opportunity)
    Thanks for the memory

  7. Wow, I knew this was a rerun. I had to go all the way back to June 5 to make sure.

  8. @TrickyRicky- And some body bags.

@JustaJeepGuy- Well obviously they don't use anyone's favorite doctors...

@M. Mitchell Marmel- Yes, but he's not sterile.

@Gee M- Yikes! Good call on the procedure. In a situation like that, I'd personally consider a 97% chance of surviving the procedure to be pretty sweet and worth the risk. Glad you got good results!

@M. Mitchell Marmel- Great song and obviously I approve of mocking our afflictions with humor. Well done!

@DougM- Hang around here long enough and I think people see a LOT of my punchlines coming!

@JustaJeepGuy- DAMN IT! I wasn't sure if this was a repeat or not. I should have looked back a bit farther. Sorry about that!

  9. S'okay, @Stilt. I was starting to think I was imagining it or that maybe I was becoming psychic. I don't know if that would be a bad thing or not...
