I always thought cat scratch fever was a joke (or just a song) until once I volunteered to donate blood and they wouldn't take it because I had scratches on my hands (that hadn't been healed for 6 weeks) from my cat. I think that would have made my third gallon donated. Oh well.
I still have an unpleasant looking scar on my wrist from a cat scratch that got badly infected well over sixty years ago and was diagnosed at the time as 'cat scratch fever'. The new kitten is determined to give me a relapse.
...And now I'm earworming Ted Nugent at 3 in the morning...
