Knowing the characters in this comic, the amount of time that Johnny can hang on is fully dependent upon how tight they tied the noose...
The answer to 'how long' is pretty much "the rest of his life", no?

@TrickyRicky- I don't think Johnny could deliberately click his heels, but if the wind hits him just right it's possible...
