Bonus Cartoon: WHAT THE HELL?!
Readers- Many of you asked what the punchline of Wednesday's cartoon was supposed to mean, and I'm both embarrassed and somewhat amused to admit that I have no idea whatsoever. It's possible that I was under the influence of strong medication at the time, which might have additionally been served in a dirty glass.
So just for fun, here's the same cartoon setup - but now with three different "final panels" to see if ANY of them makes for a better (or at least marginally more intelligible) gag than the original! I look forward to reading your comments while dabbing this egg off my face. -Stilton

Regarding the hungry doctor, I would have thought that we would have ordered some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
Regarding the Wednesday strip that needlessly libeled lobsters (I have a lobster tattoo), the obvious choice is the second one. Johnny, as he is wont, gets to gently correct the insufferable church girl.
Much better. I thought I had screwed up my meds on Wednesday, which is hard to do since I don't take any.
Not to nitpick, but aren't "brimstone" and "sulfur" pretty much same-same?
@TrickyRicky- I think "Silence of the Lambs" singlehandely killed the market for fava beans.
Also, I think you're right in your selection of better punchlines for Evangelical Girl.
@Chuck- I appreciate the trust people have invested in me, causing them to assume that whatever I print must make SOME kind of damn sense. Hopefully all the punchlines will be clearer in the future (I actually have a folder of unused cartoons labeled "lame" on my computer, and am amazed this one didn't make it in there!)
@rickn8or- They're nearly the same, which is why sulfur is sometimes sold as "I Can't Believe It's Not Brimstone."
Fava beans? I'm reminded of the time my Mom planted fava beans in her garden. She went out to look at them one day and decided she'd pick them the next day. She went out that next day and the local chipmunks had eaten every single bean!
As for the better punch line, I have a hard time choosing between the 1st and 3rd, but I'm kinda leaning toward the 1st.
Maybe she heard hell was full of "mobsters?"
Kind of like my puzzlement when I heard of attacks by "gorillas . . ." (guerillas)
