@Stan da Man- I actually wanted to go the Ermagerd route but didn't know if enough people would get it.
@TrickyRicky- GERD was top of mind when I wrote this because I've been taking Prilosec forever and recently learned that it's potentially pretty bad for you (heart, kidneys, alzheimer's, etc). So I've been kicking it, but the rebound acid and reflux is brutal. I've mostly got things under control now, but for two weeks it was pretty bad.
And I've never been diagnosed with Barrett's, but have been told that my esophagus shows a lot of scarring. Which is why I try to pour antiseptic alcohol on it as often as possible.
I found it helpful to prop up the head of the bed w/ phonebooks under the legs. Just a couple of inches was enough to help keep things from backing up Now, if I could just stop the sinus drainage..

Especially as it might have been ERH Ma GERD..
Just sayin'..
I feel his pain. GERD is the DREGs, especially if it evolves to Barrett's.
