We pride ourselves on keeping Johnny Optimism a "news free" zone, but couldn't resist tipping our hat to the recent grim headline which we cite in the first panel. And believe it or not, the headline was even worse than we're making it sound, because it said that the world's cutest dog died of heart break.
Frankly, the story sounded so depressing that the only way we could cheer ourselves up again was by looking at the sad event through Mr. Duck's murderous eyes.

Apparently, finally realized that the 'dog in the mirror' w/ whom s/he had been flirting for YEARS was itself.

@Anonymous- I haven't read the story and won't. I pretty much have "love at first sight" for all dogs. By the way, my daughter made me take an oath that nothing bad will ever happen to Johnny's dog, Lance, so we can all take comfort in that.
@Kent Whitehead- Somewhere, Beavis and Butthead are poking each other in the ribs. (grin)
