Fluffy

When I was a small kid,  the local G.C.Murphy's store would sell living baby chicks and baby ducks to give children for Easter. Which seemed charming at the time, but now makes us wonder who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?

Many people thought it was cute to give their children baby bunnies for Easter. When those bunnies began to grow, my brother and I saw an opportunity to coddle them, feed them while they grew to full adulthood. It was a hare-raising experience for 2 young boys.

And now they're a pair of old buzzards.

I'm still hoping for a "fluffy chick" on Easter. Then we can do it like bunnies.

I received a fluffy chick on Easter once which grew into a rooster just in time to become fried chicken dinner on 4 July for the family.

My dad, always the pragmatist, explained these were living creatures and could not be discarded as toys.
Then our cat ate them.
