IMHO nearly all surgeries are to be avoided. The outcomes are very often not as advertised pre-op, and often leave the patient worse off than before the scalpel was applied.

Damn, finally beat MMM to the punch and have nothing amusing to say. Sigh.

@Ricky: Yeah, I decided to sleep in today.

I will note that my surgery a year ago did leave me rather beat up, but I do feel better than I did before having a couple cancerous chunks removed...

"Unnecessary surgery" is defined as "anything we can't sock the insurance company for"...

Hey Johnny, they not only "used" to do unnecessary surgeries, they'll be right back to doing those surgeries as soon as they can escape scrutiny from the rest of the medical "establishment". Lance needs to keep a closer eye on Johnny!

@TrickyRicky, M. Mitchell Marmel, and JustaJeepGuy- That's how I feel about surgery in general, although it's sometimes necessary. So far, I've been lucky enough to avoid going under the knife. As the guests at the Bates Motel used to say.
