…and then a pod of Orcas beached and took the kids like seals
(What? Well, I was havin' a nice, quiet lie-down on what I thought was a deserted beach, when these yahoos came along splashing me and yelling inanities. Now, the yelling noise is for a reason. Thanks, Orcas)
Maryanne is still fine, in both senses of the word. She is a fictional character and can be appreciated so long as the episodes are preserved somewhere.
I am very sorry to hear that Dawn Wells has passed, though. I hadn't received the news yet. Yet another punch in the gut from 2020 (although this one was perhaps a bit lower).
Gilligan's Island was used as an example in a very interesting article on the theory of money. The article deals mostly with situations on Gilligan's Island, but does mention the period when Iraqi dinars were more valuable than U.S. $20 bills, and why. The article was one of my first intruductions to Austrian economics. It is a light, entertaining read:
There is also a neat documentary on Gilligan's Island called "Surviving Gilligan's Island". It features Dawn Wells, Russell Johnson, and Bob Denver, as well as actors playing their younger selves:

MaryAnn or Ginger?
It had better be Ginger these days; she's the only one above room temperature.
